All recent (EU, U.S. and WHO) physical activity guidelines highlight the importance of vigorous intensity physical activity. This new knowledge base presents a challenging opportunity for the sports community to contribute to the promotion of public health.
Sports Club for Health guidelines provide a manual for voluntary sports clubs to develop their health enhancing activities. In practice this means promoting their own sport and organising activities from a health enhancing perspective.
Many sports clubs already execute health promoting activities within their sports activities but it is not visible or recognised as such. Sports Club for Health guidelines offer a tool for clubs to organise, develop and document their health enhancing activities. As a result, they are able to gain more members and strengthen their position in the eyes of public and health sectors.
